ABOUT ME

In short
I'm Federica Marsili, and my passion for languages and literature started at a very young age; ever since primary school, I would say, when I used to count the minutes until recess so that I could hole up in the library to read, or when I would wait at the classroom door for the English teacher to arrive so that I could greet her with a million questions.
My studies have always reflected this passion: I began by attending the Liceo Linguistico (a language-oriented high school) in my hometown, Livorno, and then embarked on a degree course that started, at the University of Pisa, with a Bachelor's degree in Foreign Languages and Literature and continued with a Master's degree in Linguistics and Translation. But my training did not stop there. After my Master's degree, I continued my studies by taking specialised courses in technical translation, thanks to which I was able to gain in-depth knowledge of some of the most complex sectors currently in demand on the market: tourism, medicine, and audiovisual production (video games, films, TV series, etc.).
My work in publishing started early: towards the end of my Bachelor's degree, I started working as a proofreader at the Pisan publishing house ETS - a job that, once I had finished working for them, I continued to do as a freelancer for numerous private individuals - and a few months before my Master's degree I published my first literary translations: a collection of horror and gothic texts for ABEditore, and some short stories by Edgar Allan Poe and H. P. Lovecraft for Hoppípolla Edizioni.
In recent years I have divided my time between literary translation, technical translation, and text revision, while also continuing to study and train to become the best version of myself- professionally speaking, at least. During these years, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with various Italian and foreign companies, including ABEditore, Hoppípolla Edizioni, TECH Universidad Tecnológica, Torchio Verde Srls, Moving2Italy, Uber, Appen, and Google, as well as many private individuals.
Today, I combine my practical experience with a continuous desire to learn and improve, putting my expertise at the disposal of clients who are looking for precise translations tailored to their audience. Whether literary or technical texts, my aim is to offer a service that really makes a difference.
My primary goal is to offer translations that not only respect the original text but are also perfectly adapted to the target culture and language. The best translation, in my opinion, is the one that does not come across as such. When reading a text, one must have the impression that it was written in that very language: that is the magic of the translator, that is the true essence of what was intended to be communicated! Something an automatic translation, no matter how formally precise, can never recreate.
